Cecil Crusoe Robinson, Sr., 62, of Morganton, NC died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at the Charles George V.A. Medical Center in Asheville. Born in McDowell County on October 26, 1950, he was the son of the late Candler Russell Robinson and Edith Jane Duncan Austin. Cecil was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and also served in the Army Reserves and the N.C. National Guard. Cecil was employed for over twenty years at Southern Devices. He was an avid fisherman and NASCAR fan and also enjoyed camping.Cecil is survived by his wife Elaine Dagenhart Robinson of the home; a son, Cecil C. "Chris" Robinson, Jr. and his wife, Annelina, of Morganton; a daughter, Stephanie "Sissy" Robinson of Morganton; grandchildren, Ashley Caudle, Peyton Caudle, J.P. Robinson, Michael Robinson, Winter Robinson, Tabitha Russ, and Angel Russ; brothers, Arnold Robinson of Forest City, Jerome Robinson and his wife, Corrina, of Marion, NC, Etis Robinson and his wife, Mary Ann, of Morganton, Clinton Robinson and his wife, Becky, of Marion, and Willie "Junior" Austin and his companion, Sheila,, of Ruth, NC; a sister, Jackie Robinson of Marion; a number of nephews and nieces; and his canine companion, Sam.In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by his brothers, Calvin Robinson, Johnny Robinson, and an infant twin-brother; a sister, Ann Gurley; a step-daughter, Donna Tallent Caudle; and a step-grandson, Tyler Caudle.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Hopewell Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Emory officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard.
