Cecil L. Benfield, Sr.

Cecil L. Benfield, Sr., 78, of Morganton, NC passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017. He was the son of the late Ethel Benfield. Cecil was a member of First Baptist Church of Glen Alpine. He was a dedicated family man and hard worker.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Benfield; children, Keith Benfield and wife, Thressia, Pete Benfield, Susie Benfield, David Benfield and wife, Brenda all of Morganton; grandchildren, Maureen Wisely, Emily Keenan, Jessica Bailey, Mark Smith, Jonathan Benfield, Amanda Reynolds, Brandi Anthony; a number of great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Starkey and Glen Huffman, Brother, Jim Benfield; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Glen Alpine. The service will follow at the church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John Terry and Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
