Cecil William Huffman

Cecil William Huffman, 81, of Morganton, NC died Saturday, December 25, 2010 at Grace Hospital. Born in Burke County, NC on May 29, 1929, he was the son of the late Shubelo "Shub" Huffman and Hester Huffman. Cecil was a member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church. He loved his church and church family. Known as the neighborhood mechanic, Cecil enjoyed music and whittling in his spare time.Cecil is survived by his wife, Nina Mae Stamey Huffman of the home; daughters, Linda Kay Bandy and husband, Mike, and Cathy Renee Knight and husband, Greg, both of Morganton; grandchildren, Michael Bandy, Kimberly Arnett, and William Knight; great-grandsons, Trevor Arnett, Lathan Arnett, Brayden Bandy, and Tyler Bandy; a brother, Melvin Huffman; and sisters, Pauline Roper and Dorothy Haynes.In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by brother, Clyde and Glenn Huffman; and sisters, Elsie Huffman and Alice Hayes.The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Catawba Valley Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Odom and Rev. Clyde Buckner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the church. At other times the family will be at the home. Memorial contributions may be made to Catawba Valley Baptist Church Building Fund, 107 Valley View Street, Morganton, NC 28655.
