Chancey Roosevelt Lookadoo

Chancey Roosevelt Lookadoo, 92, of Morganton, NC died Sunday, June 19, 2011 at the Burke Palliative Care Center in Valdese, NC. Born in Rutherford County, NC on June 28, 1918, he was the son of the late James Monroe Lookadoo and Liler McFarland Lookadoo. Chancey was a member of North Morganton Baptist Church.Chancey retired from Drexel Heritage Furnishings and was an avid vegetable and flower gardener. He will be remembered for his love of God and family, his ability to see the good in everyone, his keen sense of humor, and an unfailing appreciation for the blessings most take for granted.Chancey is survived by his son, Dennis Lookadoo and wife, Glenda, of Etowah, NC; brothers, Oliver Lookadoo and wife, Louise, of Shelby, NC and John Lookadoo and wife, Bea of Bostic, NC; sisters, Heggie Johnson of Forest City, NC, Sue Toms and husband, Hoyle, of Forest City, Mattie Lee of Bostic, and Fannie Hager of Mathews, NC; caregivers, Rita Scott, Wanda Shipworth, and Amy Woody; grandchildren, Shannon Lookadoo and wife, Nichole and Jonathan Loodadoo; and great-grandchildren, Serrin, Chance, Brayden, and Kassie.In addition to his parents, Chancey was preceded in death by his wife, Loy Mary Trivette Lookadoo; a daughter, Betty Sue Lookadoo; brothers, Claude, Wayne, and Raymond Lookadoo; and sisters, Rannie Lookadoo and Lorie Hutchins.The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Kenneth Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
