Charles Albert Holmes, 52, passed away, unexpectedly, at Grace Hospital in Morganton, North Carolina on April 23, 2020. He spent most of his life in Moncks Corner, SC. He was born in Charleston, SC on March 10, 1968. He was the son of William Holmes (Nancy) and Deborah Raptou. Charles, was better known as “Chuck”, “Chuckie”, or “Daddy”.
In addition to his parents, Charles is survived by his pride and joys, daughters, Hayleah Holmes and Brooke Holmes; brothers, Mike Holmes, Roy McSwain, Joseph Dougharty, John L. Dougharty, and Andrew Holmes; sisters, Amanda McSwain, Phyllis Lowder, and Kristie Wells; several nieces and nephews, and his brother-from-another-mother, Mark “Skeeter” Fennel.
He was a 1986 graduate of Lord Berkeley Academy.
He loved to spend time with his children, cooking, gardening, playing ball, fishing, riding dirt roads, hanging out with his friends, boat riding, beaches, and coon-hunting with his life-long best friend, Skeeter. He was also an Ancient Free Mason and was known to many as Charleston Chuck.
Chuck was a very unique person. He never met a stranger anywhere he went. He will be remembered for being one the most caring people you could have met. He would do anything for anyone no matter the occasion.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles “Bud” and Virginia “MaMa” May Holmes, and maternal grandparents, Fred and Melva Lee Holseberg.
May his soul now rest in peace and comfort you in times of need.
