Charles Boughman

Charles Boughman, 95, of Summers Road, Morganton, NC went to be with Jesus on Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Country Pines Family Care Home. Born in Burke County, NC on October 2, 1914, he was the son of the late John P. Boughman and Mary Bennett Boughman. Charles was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where he had been a deacon and sang in the choir. Charles had been a Gideon and sang with the Choraleers. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, having participated in the Battle of Midway. He retired from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, having worked all over the U.S.Charles is survived by his son, Arvis B. Boughman and wife, Kimberley, of Morganton; a daughter, Sue; grandchildren, Micah, Clara-Ann Boughman and Steve and Jim Clarke; great-grandchildren, Rohman, Monet, Sophia, Whitney, Thatcher, and Allister Clarke.In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his first wife, Troy M. Boughman; his second wife, Adelaide Locklear Boughman; brothers, Ernest, Wilson, Jack, and John Boughman; and sisters, Ida Whisenant, Jane Price, and Ella Yount.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Burt Wilbur and Rev. Dr. John Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park with military honors provided by Valdese American Legion Post #234. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 678, Morganton, NC 28680.
