Charles “Charlie” Morgan, Sr., 82, of Glen Alpine, NC went Home to be with his Lord, Saturday, June 1, 2019 after a period of declining health. He was born April 2, 1937 in McDowell County to the late Roy L. Morgan and Cora Taylor Morgan. He attended Advent Christian Church and Blessed Hope Fellowship. Charlie graduated from Glen Alpine High School in 1955. He worked at Warlick Grocery for 24 years and retired from McDonald’s restaurant with 27 years of service where he worked in maintenance. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard and Donald Morgan.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Priscilla Morgan; children, Pam Causby (Gary) of Glen Alpine, Melisssa Leonhardt (Chris) and Charles W. Morgan Jr. all of Morganton and Amy Morgan of South Carolina; grandchildren, Kelly Benfield, Jonathan (Brittany) and Steven Lowdermilk, Michael Morgan, Leah Morgan, Nicholas Morgan, Andrew Morgan, and Carrie Reece; eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great- grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Denton (Don) of Texas and Sarah Carswell (Steve) of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A graveside service will be at 2:00pm, Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Jim Tabor and Preacher John Terry officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Rd, Valdese, NC 28690. A celebration of Charlie’s Life will be held at a later date.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
