Charles "Chuck" Rollins, 72, of US Hwy 64, Morganton died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC following a period of declining health. He was born August 29, 1936 in Burke County, and was the son of the late Marvin Rollins and Carrie Watts Rollins. Chuck was a member of Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church. For 27 years, he was a co-owner of Sterling Billiards and Snack Bar until his retirement in 1996.Chuck is survived by his wife, Karen Brittain Rollins of the home; a sister, Josie R. Woodin and husband, Bob, of Hideaway, TX; a niece, Bobette Woodin and fiancé, Thomas Turco, of Austin, TX; beloved aunts, Essie Waters and Velsie McCurry, both of Morganton; and a number of cousins.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 21, 2008 at Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. R. Alan Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday one hour before the service at the church. At other times, the family will be at Chuck’s childhood home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund c/o Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 5358 Denton’s Chapel Rd., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
