Charles "Eddie" Peters

Charles “Eddie” Peters, 62, of Morganton, NC died Thursday, July 14, 2016. Born in Meigs County, OH on October 13, 1953, he was a son of the late Auda Ralph Peters and Betty Jane Cheatham Peters. Eddie was a member of Nowlings Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Eddie was also a past governor of Western North Carolina and 18 year member of the Glen Alpine Ruritan Club. He was a very giving person who loved his community. He was currently serving as Alderman for Glen Alpine and was a big supporter of the Southmountain Children’s Home.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Judy Diane Bowers Peters of the home; daughters, Misty Dawn Haun and her husband, Eric, and their children, Colton, Dominique, and Sage, and Crystal Birchfield and her husband, Johnny, and their son, Logan, all of Tennessee; step-daughters, Kim Browning and her husband, Heath, and their children, Jessica and Justin, and Pepper Dyer and her husband, David, and their son, Austin, all of Morganton; sisters, Becky Lay and her husband, John, Gena Pierce and her husband, Steve, and Alice Peters, all of TN; special friends, Tim and Karen Suttles of Glen Alpine and Sam Crowder of TN; and his special canine companion, Hachi.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Nowlings Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. The funeral will be held in the church at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Darvy Hensley officiating. Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
