Charles Edmond Waters

Charles Edmond Waters, 84, of Drexel, NC went to his eternal home on Monday, April 6, 2015.  Born in Rutherford County, NC on November 8, 1930, he was the son of the late Robert Cohen Waters and Laura Etta Turner Waters.  Charles was an active member of Zion Memorial United Methodist Church, acting as a cook for church functions for many years.  Mr. Waters was a retired employee of Broughton Hospital and was an avid gardener.  He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and his church family.

Charles is survived by a daughter, Patsy W. Jones and her husband, Timothy, Sr., of Morganton; grandsons, Wesley Jones and T.J. Jones, Jr.; and his girlfriend, Amber Mann; brothers, Robert Houston Waters of Belwood, NC, Dewitt Waters of Hickory, NC, Eliga “Bill” Waters of St. Augustine, FL, James Waters of Hickory, and Jesse Waters of Hickory; sisters, Clara Hefner of Conover, NC and Sue Johnson of Hickory; and a number of nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Marie Reece Waters; an infant daughter; and four sisters, Monnie Stewart, Odessa Stewart, Deanie Maddox, and Vene Warlick.

The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Zion Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. George Williams officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
