Charles Edwin "Ed" Powell

Charles Edwin “Ed” Powell, 84 of Morganton, passed on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.  Born on February 1, 1933 in Burke County, he was a son of the late Lewis Albert Powell and Lessie Anna Whisenant Powell.  Ed was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was of the Baptist faith.

Ed is survived by his wife Jane Harris Powell of the home; children, Harold Powell and wife, Shirley of Morganton, Wanda Powell of Morganton, and Terry Jacumin and wife, Sally of Granite Falls; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.  He is also survived by sisters, Ruby Carswell and Nell Cuthbertson both of Morganton.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by son, Eddie Powell; brothers; and sisters.

The niche side service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 26 at Zion Baptist Church Columbarium with Rev. Keith Rose and Rev. Buster King officiating.
