Charles Eugene "Ben" "Skin" Walker

Charles Eugene "Ben" "Skin" Walker, 77, of Morganton, NC died Saturday, November 16, 2013. Born in Burke County, NC on January 25, 1936, he was the son of the late Benjamin Junior Walker and Bertha Mary Dale Walker. Ben was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of Calvary Assembly of God. He was a retired employee of Henredon Furniture Company where he worked for over 30 years.Ben is survived by his wife, Katherine Powell Walker of the home; a daughter, Reba Perkins of Morganton; a son, Milton Pendley, Jr. of Morganton; grandchildren, Christina Perkins, Heather Pendley, Jennifer Pendley, and Charles Daniel Pendley; and sisters, Carolyn Cook, Mildred Hawkins, and Edna McGalliard, all of Morganton.In addition to his parents, Mr. Walker was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Calvary Assembly of God with the Reverends Duane Smith and Mike Whisnant officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
