Charles H. Beach

Charles H. Beach, 89, of Morganton died unexpectedly on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at his residence. Born in Burke County, NC on May 26, 1923, he was the son of the late John Nelson Beach and Julia Ila Deal Beach. Charles was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and Korea, serving on the U.S.S. Cony in the South Pacific. He retired from Drexel Heritage with over 35 years of service in research and development. After retirement he taught a woodworking class at the Morganton Senior Center.Charles is survived by a brother, William Beach of Morganton; a sister, Edith Barbee of Alexandria, VA; and several nephews and nieces.In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by brothers, Jim, Frank, and George Beach; and sisters, Mary Beamon and Ruby Dansereau.A celebration of Charles’ life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 1, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Larry Cronk officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
