Charles Hamm

Charles Hamm, 77, of Drexel Heights St., Morganton, NC died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Grace Hospital following a period of declining health. Born in Ashe Co., NC on June 9, 1932, he was the son of the late Riley Ham and Estella Wilcox Ham. Charles was of the Pentacostal Faith. He loved his family and he loved to garden.Charles is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hilda Berry Hamm of the home; a son, Stevie Hamm and wife, Mary Gail, of Valdese, NC; a grandson, David Hamm and wife, Angie, of Valdese; a granddaughter, Jennifer Hamm of Long View, NC; a great-granddaughter, Katie Hamm; brothers, Fred Ham and wife, Gwen of Folson, CA and Darrell Ham of West Jefferson, NC; and sisters, Volree Good and Aileen Edwards of West Jefferson.In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by half-brothers, Dean, Dale, and Edgar Ham; and a half-sister, Edna Carpenter.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 13, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
