Charles Littlefield

Charles Littlefield, 85, of Valdese, NC went to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, July 15, 2012. Born in Waterboro, ME on May 14, 1927, he was the son of the late Ernest Henry Littlefiled and Geneva Sanborn Littlefield Garrish. Charles was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. Charles was a member of North Laurel Baptist Church where he was best known as the Keeper of the Door. Charles was a member of the American Legion and Lovelady Masonic Lodge. He retired from American Cyanamid.Charles is survived by his wife, Albertine Picken Littlefield of the home; sons, Winston Littlefield and his wife, Kimberly and Elroy Littlefield and his wife, Peggy; daughter, Cynthia England and her husband, Greg, and Debbie Lemr and her husband, Rich; a daughter-in-law, Helen Littlefield; thirteen grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Everett Littlefield.In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a son, Charles Littlefield, Jr; a grandson, Gary Steele; a brother, Rosco Littlefield; and a sister, Julia Lovely.A celebration of Charles’ life will be held at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, July 19, 2012 at North Laurel Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Wakefield officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. The cremated remains will be interred on Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Western North Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to North Laurel Baptist Church, P.O.
