Charles Winborn Russell

Charles Winborn Russell, 66, of East Winds Ave. in Morganton died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born September 17, 1943 in Troy, NC and was a son of the late Barna Russell and Mary Strider Russell. Charles retired in 2007 after 30 years of service as the Director of Manufacturing at Continental Teves.Charles is survived by his wife, Tracey Demetris Russell, his sons, Charles Russell, Jr. and wife, Susie, of Atlanta, GA, Jacob Deal Russell and Thomas Russell, both of Morganton; grandchildren, Jamison V. Russell McLaurin of Newport News, VA, and Avery Francis Russell of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Roger Russell and wife, Audrey, of Greenville, SC, Frank Russell and wife, Debbie of Troy, NC; sisters, Emily Howell and husband, Harold of Lumberton, NC, Mary Lou Russell of Troy, NC, and Martha Griego of Troy, NC; a number of nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Robert Demetris and wife Katherine of Fletcher, NC; sisters-in-law, Pebbles Stucker and husband, Jeff of Asheville, NC and Gayle Roberts and husband, Scott of Alpharetta, GA.In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Russell.A Tribute to the life of Charles Russell will be held at the family home located at 2129 East Winds Ave. Morganton, NC. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 4:30-6:00 pm followed by a memorial service starting at 6:00 p.m. The Reverend Richard Via will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Thomas Russell Educational Fund, c/o First Citizens Bank, 217 N. Sterling St., Morganton, NC 28655.
