Charlie A. Norman

Charlie A. Norman, 89, of Mill Race Road, Morganton, NC died Saturday, December 3, 2005 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born October 11, 1916 in Burke County to the late Tommy Norman and Isabelle McDaniel Norman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Elsie Russell; granddaughters, Beverly Blankenship and Christy Blankenship; brothers, Frank Norman, William Norman, and Mack Norman; and a sister, Lucy Dale.

Mr. Norman was a member of Nowlings Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and had retired from Henredon Furniture Co. after thirty seven years of service.

A loving Husband , Father, and Paw Paw, he is survived by his wife of sixty five years, Ruby Buff Norman of the home; sons, Leonard Norman and his wife, Nell of Morganton, Rick Norman and his wife, Tammy of Hudson; daughters, Gladys Carswell, Hazel Davis and her husband, W.J. "Bill", Rita Aldredge and her husband, James all of Morganton; brother, James E. Norman of Morganton; sisters, Gertie Duckworth, Pearlie Mae Copeland, and Rudell Burgin all of Morganton; nineteen grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at Nowling’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with the Reverend Darvy Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday at Sossoman Funeral Home.
