Charlie Edmond Earwood

Charlie Edmond Earwood, 92, of Morganton, NC, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022.

Born in Cleveland County, NC on June 22, 1930, he was the son of the late Shuford Earwood and Liza McNeely Earwood and was raised by John and Mae Wortman.  Charlie was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the US Army.

Mr. Earwood is survived by his wife, Weyma Woody Earwood; daughter, Debbie Earwood Vance (Wade); son, Dr. Alfred D. Earwood (Diane); a number of grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; brothers, John Wortman, Jr. (Phyllis), Rev. Manuel Wortman (Karen), and Robert Earwood (Diane); sisters, Dot Austin (Harry) and Pat Cody; and a number of nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by five siblings, Betty Bridges, Julius Earwood, Martha Sue Clary, Jessie Lankford, and Linda Bell.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Revs. Jamie Buchanan and Keith Rose officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
