Charlie Harvey

Charlie Harvey, 61, of Casar, NC went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center after an unexpected illness. Born in Lenawee Co., MI on June 1, 1949, he was the son of the late Everette Riddle and Martha Hall Riddle. A former Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, he was a combat veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. Charlie worked for Grace Hospital for over 20 years as a respiratory therapist and assisted as a camp counselor at Camp Ginger Cascades.He is survived by his companion, Hilda Harris of the home; children, Troy Harvey of Morenci, MI, Shane Harvey and wife, Kary, of Greer, SC, Jill Lineberger and husband, Allen, of Casar, Mary Burdette and husband, Jason, of Morganton, and Ben Hutchins of Morganton; grandchildren, Clay and Alexis Harvey, Emma and Eli Lineberger, and Shelby Kirby, Ashley, and Noah Burdette; sisters, Jerry Bell of Morenci, Linda Bar of Hickory, NC, and Deb Riddle of Oak Island, NC; and his former wife, Laura McAllister.In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his first wife, Sherry Gipperich.The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home. At the conclusion of the visitation, military honors will be provided by Valdese American Legion Post #234.
