Charlotte Grindstaff Berry

Charlotte Grindstaff Berry, 75 of Upland, California, formerly of Drexel, NC passed away on Wednesday February 8, 2023. Charlotte was born in Burke County, NC on April 19, 1947 to the late Dunbar and Sadie Grindstaff. Charlotte grew up at First Baptist Church of Drexel and married Wayne Allen Berry, of Drexel in 1966. Wayne’s career required them to leave Burke Country in 1972, and after several moves across the country they settled in California. Charlotte worked and retired from the California School System, where she worked in the office as an assistant. She loved her family but especially her grandchildren. Charlotte requested that when she passed, she be returned to her native town of Drexel and be buried next to her husband, Wayne.

Charlotte is survived by her daughter in law, Deanna Berry; grandchildren, Jillian, and Luke Berry; brother-in-law, Glenn Berry; sister-in-law, Alyce Berry Deal (Rodney); two nieces and many cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband of 55 years, Charlotte is preceded in death by her son, Jason Allen Berry.

A graveside service will be held on Friday April 14, 2023 at 2pm at Burke Memorial Park with the Rev. Leonard Brendel officiating.
