Chloe Emeline Graham Acuff, 82, died Friday, October 12, 2012, at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born in Ashland, Alabama on August 21, 1930 and was a daughter of the late Elzie Charran Graham and Amanda Eleanor Schuster Graham. Mrs. Acuff was a teacher’s aide at Oak Hill Elementary School and a former employee of Broughton Hospital. She was a very active member of Table Rock Seventh-Day Adventist Church where she served in many official capacities and offices. Chloe will always be remembered for her encouragement and helpfulness to others.Surviving are her husband, Fred E. Acuff of the home; her children, Faye Acuff and her husband, Howard Bumgarner of Morganton, Lynda Bivens and her husband, Chris Metts, of Holden Beach, NC, and Terry Acuff and his wife, Angie of Morganton; grandsons, Josh Rhodes, Graham Rhodes, Weston Acuff, and Eric Powell; and several great-grandchildren. Chloe was one of nine children and is also survived by sisters, Corrine Young of Memphis, TN and Delice Williams of Houston, TX, and by a brother, Obed Graham of Eustis, FL.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Charran Graham, Thelma Ellyson, Irving Graham, Alvan Graham, and James Graham.The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2012, at Table Rock Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Pastor Roy Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes before the funeral hour.
