Christine H. Powell

Christine H. Powell, 74, of Powell Loop, Nebo, NC, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born April 15, 1933 in McDowell County, and was a daughter of the late Fred Theodore Henline and Eulalia Gosnell Henline. In addition to her parents, Christine was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Anita Powell. She was a member of Victory Temple Full Gospel Church, and a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother.Christine is survived by her husband, James Vernon "Buck" Powell of the home; sons, James Freddy Powell and wife, Brenda, Jeffrey Lynn Powell, Vernon Andrew Powell, and Christopher Eugene Powell and wife, Teresa; grandchildren, Ted Powell, Jennifer Powell, Kendall Powell, Amanda Powell, Angela Powell, Justin Powell, Jonathan Register, Chrystal Bingham, Heather Toney, and Erica Barrier; great grandchildren, Dalton Powell and Bayleigh Powell; brothers, Sam Henline and wife, Betty, Charlie Henline and wife, Louise, and Glen Henline, and wife, Dottie; and a sister, Betty Ray and husband, Max.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2008 at Snow Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Swain and Rev. Walker Toney officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes before the funeral hour.
