Clara Colene McCall Brittain

Clara Colene McCall Brittain, 87, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, February 11, 2014. Born in Caldwell County, NC on September 5, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Robert Elroy McCall and Cora Jane Benge McCall. Clara was a former employee of Case Farms, Drexel Furniture Co., and Handi-care and was a retired employee of Knob Creek Furniture Co.Mrs. Brittain is survived by her children, Ruth B. Posey and her husband, Levi, of Gaffney, SC, Wayne Brittain of Morganton, Bruce Brittain of Morganton, Jane Whisnant and her husband, David, of Hickory, NC, and Gayle Brittain of Morganton; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Dallas McCall and Vernon McCall, both of Morganton; sisters, Lois Walsh of Valdese, NC, Joyce Wright of Gaffney, and Frankie Williams of Morganton; a number of nephews and nieces; and dear friends, Charles and Shelia Wilkes.In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Watkins Brittain; a number of brothers and sisters; and a grandson, Clay Robert Brittain.The memorial service will be held at 4pm, Saturday, February 22, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with the Rev. Kenneth Baker officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-4pm prior to the service.Memorial contributions may be made to Sossoman Funeral Home, P.O.
