Clara Puett Seagle

Clara Puett Seagle, 85, died Monday, December 20, 2010 at the Burke Palliative Care Center following a period of declining health. Born in Caldwell County, NC on July 25, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Henry R. Puett and Della Mae Davis Puett. Clara was a member of Drexel First Church of God. She enjoyed a sixty year membership in the Eastern Star, Lovelady Lodge, Valdese, NC. During that time she occupied several positions, including Worthy Grand Matron. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, playing cards, and listening to Willie Nelson.A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Clara is survived by her sons, Dennis Seagle and wife, Elizabeth, of Lansing, NC and Yates E. Seagle of Valdese, NC; brothers, Lane Puett of Hickory, NC and Orin Puett of Greensboro, NC; a sister, Era Courtney of Lenoir; granddaughters, Erin Thompson and husband, Joel, of Boone, NC and Alicia LeFevers of Valdese, NC; and two great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Seagle, one sister, and four brothers.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, December 23, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Don Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. At other times the family will be at the residence, 109 Griffin Dr., Drexel, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
