Clarence Carswell, 69, of Morganton, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 21, 2017. Born in Burke County, NC on May 13, 1948, he was the son of the late William Carswell and Bertha Elizabeth Carswell. He was an active member of Carswell Memorial Baptist Church. Clarence worked for GDS for many years and Burke County Waste Management for over 15 years.
Mr. Carswell is survived by his wife of 39 years, Velsie Franklin Carswell of the home; brothers, Ted Carswell and Robert Carswell; sisters, Isabell Butler and Sarah Carswell, all of Morganton. He enjoyed spending time with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by an infant son; and 2 brothers, Henry Carswell and Dewey Carswell.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm, Monday, July 24, 2017 at Carswell Memorial Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2pm in the church with the Rev. Isaac Propst officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
