Clarence R. "Pete" Bivens

Clarence R. “Pete” Bivens, 77, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, March 3, 2015. Born on November 22, 1937, he was the son of the late Lee Bivens and Grace Bailey Bivens. Pete was a member of Abundant Life Tabernacle Church. He was a retired employee of Drexel Heritage Furnishings and was an avid golfer.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Green Bivens; sons, Robbie Bivens and wife, Mitzi, of Lenoir, NC, Paul Carpenter and wife, Tracy, of Morganton, Gary Ollis of Ohio, and Don Ollis and wife, Shirley, of Ohio; daughters, Robin Newell of Morganton, Kylelynn Keffer and husband, Ken, of Morganton, Linda Sue Tisdale and husband, Wayne, of Ohio, and Kim Reynolds and husband, Mike, of Hickory, NC; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Bivens of Connelly Springs, NC; sisters, Loretta Reid of Hudson, NC, and Barbara Bolick of Hickory, NC; and many supportive nieces and nephews.

Pete was preceded in death a brother, Jerry Bivens; and a sister, Geraldine Cook.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2015 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with the Rev. David McNeil officiating. Burial will follow in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
