Clarence Vernon "C.V." LaFevers, 75, of Power House Rd., Morganton, NC died Tuesday, December 10, 2006 at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born January 6, 1931 in Burke County, NC, and was a son of the late Marcus Virgil LaFevers and Iris Shull LaFevers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Simpson "Simp" LaFevers. Clarence attended Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory. He served with the US Marine Corps in the early 50’s and also with the US Air Force in the mid and late 50’s. Clarence was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2813, Woodside, New York. Mr. LaFevers was a retired employee of Barclays Bank in New York City, and an avid traveler.
He is survived by his sister, Mildred LaFevers Richard of the home; and his faithful canine companion, Ben.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, January 12, 2006 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Reverends John Fitzgerald and Al Zadig officiating. Burial will follow in the Glen Alpine Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 until 3 pm in the parish hall. Memorial contributions may be made to the Happy Tuesday Club or the Memorial Fund of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, PO Box 1043, Glen Alpine, NC 28628. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
