Claude Edwards, 71, of Morganton, NC, died Saturday, March 12, 2016. Born in Yancey County, NC on January 15, 1945, he was a son of the late David E. Edwards and Macie Hensley Edwards.
Mr. Edwards was a great father, husband, and a wonderful person. He was a sportsman and loved to travel. Mr. Edwards loved to be outdoors with his brothers.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Brenda Moore Edwards; son, James “Butch” Edwards and wife, Pam; daughter, Lisa Edwards King and husband, Eddie; and step-daughter, Vickie Hubbard. He is also survived by sisters, Hope Reel and Evelyn Smith; brothers, Garland, Lonnie, and Hal Edwards; six grandchildren, Jason, Chris, Amber, Ashley, Eric, and Corey; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Pastors Ricky Parlier and Olin Jones officiating. Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
