Cleo Dale

Cleo Dale, 94, of Morganton, NC joined her Heavenly Father and family in Heaven Saturday, August 19, 2018. Born on February 18, 1924, she was the daughter to the late Ernest Smith and Ennie Carswell Smith.

Cleo was a life long member of Burkemont Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She retired from Shadowline after working for 38 years and loved sewing and doing anything outdoors. Cleo liked to garden and raise flowers, but she especially loved life and people and always had a positive attitude.

Cleo is survived by her son, Vernon Dale, and wife, Kitty; daughter, Patsy Johnson, and husband, Harold; daughter-in-law, Catherine Dale, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a half-sister, Frances Mabe; sister-in-law, Brenda Garrison; and brother-in-law, William Ross.

In addition to her parents, Cleo was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Albert Dale; son, Joseph Bennet; brothers, Clyde Smith and Paul Smith; sisters, Annie Ross and Minnie Ross; half-brothers, Hardie Garrison and Wilson Garrison.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Burkemont Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with the Revs. Eddy Bunton and David Orders officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to thank Hospice and the staff at Autumn Care for their devoted care and love.
