Mrs. Cleo P. Watts, 88, of Morganton, died peacefully on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Grace Heights, surrounded by her family. Cleo was born September 27, 1927 in Burke County to the late Cullen and Emma Propst. She was a devoted Christian and member of Missionary Ridge Baptist Church, where she was church treasurer and sang in the choir for many years. Cleo retired from Shadowline in 1989 after 28 years of service as a supervisor. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, and watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball.
In addition to her parents, Cleo was preceded in death by her husband, Will Reford Watts; five brothers, Clyde, LeRoy, Melvin, Marvin, and John Propst; and a sister, Clarcia Watts. Cleo is survived by her son, Denny Watts and wife, Pam; grandchildren, Angie Berry and husband, Ward of Morganton, April Brooks and husband, Atlas of Kernersville, and Kolby Watts of Morganton; and four great-grandchildren, Madison, Aidan, Dalton, and Logan.
Funeral service for Mrs. Watts will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church with Reverends Chris Dale and Donald Lovelace officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
