Committal
Clifford Abee, 86, of Morganton, NC went to his Heavenly home on Thursday, September 22, 2022. He was born on December 13, 1935 in Burke County to the late Gordon Abee and Minnie Martin Abee. He was a lifelong member of Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church where he served on various boards. He was a veteran of the NC National Guard and also a member of Farm Bureau. One of his greatest pleasures was to have worked at South Mountains Children’s Home. Cliff was a farmer who raised chickens for thirty plus years. He loved to plant and grow a garden and took pride in his yard work. Cliff loved the mountains and camping. He was a good man who was loved by all. Cliff read his Bible daily and is now walking with the Lord.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Herman, Harold and J.P. Abee; sister, Juanita Herman; and grandson, Michael Costner.
Cliff is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Jean Greene Abee; daughters, Kathy Costner (Carl) and Connie Cook; grandsons, Chad Costner (Jatanna) and Nicholas Lackey; granddaughter-in-law, Cheri Costner; great-grandchildren, Kristen Evan and Logan Costner; and great-great-granddaughter, Ilithya Costner.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church. The Celebration of Life will follow at 3 p.m. in the church with Rev. Jon Wallace officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations, in memory of Cliff, may be made to Amorem (Burke Hospice) or Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
