Clifton "J. C." Dobson

Clifton "J. C." Dobson, Jr., 74, of Jay Road, Morganton, NC died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Grace Hospital following a period of declining health. He was born November 9, 1933 in Burke County, and was a son of the late Clifton J. Dobson, Sr. and Nettie Iola Dobson. Clifton was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and fan of the Atlanta Braves baseball team. Clifton loved his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Sarah Lorene Smith Dobson of the home; daughters, Vickie Stamey and husband, Keith, and Lori Mosteller and husband, Chuck, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Chris Ratliff and wife, Leslie, of Morganton, T. J. Ratliff of Marion, NC, Billy Stamey, Betsy Mosteller and Sara Mosteller, all of Morganton; great grandchildren, Trevor Ratliff, Davin Ratliff, and Bryson Raliff; a brother, Bobby Dobson and wife, Shirley, of Morganton; a brother-in-law, Don Smith and wife, Betty, of Morganton; an aunt, Betty Mathis of Morganton; an uncle, Howard Cline of Charlotte, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Cline officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes before the funeral hour.
