Clyde Chapman

Clyde Chapman, 84, of Old NC 18 in Morganton died Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Grace Hospital following a period of declining health. He was born October 8, 1924 in Burke County, and was a son of the late Joe Chapman and Estelle Carswell Chapman. Clyde was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was a retired employee of Drexel-Heritage Furnishings where he had worked for 40 years.Surviving are his wife, Annie Lee Huffman Chapman, of the home; his daughter, Wanda Nicholson, of Morganton; grandchildren, Crystal Nicolson and Brandon Nicholson and his fiancée, Tipi Wilkinson; brothers, Mack Chapman and Gordon Chapman both of Morganton, and Claude Chapman of Michigan/ and a sister, Joan Chapman, of Morganton.In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by a brother, Clayton, and by sisters, Irene and Burl.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Price and Rev. Randy Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church.
