Clyde Philmore Arney

Clyde Philmore Arney, 68, died Saturday, June 13, 2015.  Born in Caldwell County, NC on October 7, 1946, he was the son of the late William Earl Arney and Ethel Mae Brown Arney.  Clyde was a member of Morganton Free Will Baptist Church and a retired employee of Alba-Waldensian and Jobst Carolina.  He loved woodworking and restoring classic vehicles.

Mr. Arney is survived by his wife, Jo Anne Shelton Arney of the home; sons, Jeffrey A. Arney and his wife, Peggy Sue, of Morganton and Robbie K. Arney and his wife, April, of Lenoir, NC; grandchildren, Steven Arney, Randy Arney and his wife, Nicole, Catherine Arney, Jessica Arney, and Shan Bryson; a great-granddaughter, Sarah Jean Arney; a brother, Frank Arney and his wife, Florence, of Sawmills, NC; a sister, Elizabeth Arney of Valdese; a sister-in-law, Nancy Arney of Lenoir; and a number of nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by a brother, Junior Arney.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 15, 2015 from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Morganton Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Boone officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
