Clyde William “Jim” McGalliard

Clyde “Jim” McGalliard, 81, of Glen Alpine, NC died Friday, May 27, 2016.  Born in Burke County, NC on January 27, 1935, he was the son of the late James Avery and Lyda Arney McGalliard.

Clyde was a veteran of the US Army and retired from the NC Forest Service.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and sharing his bounty with his friends.  His greatest enjoyment in life was his family.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Shirley Ingram McGalliard; a son, Avery McGalliard and his wife, Wendy, of Glen Alpine; a daughter, Eva Barrier and her husband, Greg, of Glen Alpine; grandchildren, Tyler Moses and Lanette McGalliard, both of Glen Alpine, Misty Eller and her husband, Garry, of Mooresville, NC and Hunter Canipe of Cherryville, NC; a great-grandson, Garrison Eller; and a brother, John McGalliard and his wife, Faye, of Morganton, NC.

In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his sisters, Sarah Johnson, Mary May, Grace McGalliard, Betty Fleming, and Louise Anderson; and a brother, James “Bud” McGalliard.

The graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Glen Alpine Cemetery with the Rev. Stan Glover and the Rev. Boyd Biggerstaff officiating.  The family will greet friends in the cemetery following the service.
