Coila Mae Morrow, 90, of North Charleston, SC, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 31, 2024.

Born in Morganton, NC on February 13,1934, she was the daughter of Coy Buff and Minnie Cooke Buff. She was the wife of the late James “Big Jim” Morrow, who passed away in 1997.

Surviving are her two sons: Jim Morrow of Charleston, SC and Jeff Morrow (wife Terri) of Summerville, SC. She is also survived by two grandchildren–Dusty Morrow (partner Chandler) of Los Angeles, CA and Dani Morrow Carbone (husband Logan)–as well as great-grandchildren Zoey and Myles Carbone of Summerville, SC.

Surviving siblings include sisters Doris Buff Edge (husband Charles) of Morganton, NC and Mozelle Buff Wilson of West Palm Beach, FL and brother Doug Buff (wife Brenda) of Morganton, NC.

She was preceded in death by sisters Sue Buff Fowler and Floy Buff Grubb, and brother Roy “Bill” Buff.

Her family was stationed in many places while her husband was in the Air Force, including Albuquerque, NM and Tripoli, Libya in North Africa.

She had a lifelong love of photography, earning her first camera at age seven by selling salves door-to-door. She loved music–especially hymns, which were of much comfort to her. She and her two sisters, Doris and Mozelle, sang at many churches in their area when they were little girls. They were known as “The Pinafore Trio.”

She especially loved being a grandmother, and in the last years of her life delighted in being a great-grandmother. She absolutely adored all of her nieces and nephews, as well as her great-niece and nephew.

She was the kindest woman: a true angel on earth, loved by all who met her.

She will forever be in our hearts.

The family will receive friends from 1:30p.m. until 2:30 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home. A graveside will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Burke Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to your local hospice care.

We cannot thank them enough for all that they did during this time–for mom and for us.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
