Conley Lee Smith

Conley Lee Smith, 80, of US 70 West, Morganton died Friday, April 20, 2007 at Grace Hospital, following a period of declining health. He was born in Burke County on October 3, 1926 and was the son of the late Zero Smith and Jessico Walker Smith Bollinger. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a step-father, Reid Bollinger; a granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Smith Brown; and a great granddaughter, Madison Nicole Brown. Mr. Smith was a retired employee of Drexel Heritage Furnishings and was a WWII US Navy Veteran. He was a member of Snow Hill United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce Branch Smith; son, Brian Keith Smith and wife, Carolyn of Morganton; daughter, Brenda Lee Moses and husband, James of Glen Alpine; grandchildren, Ricky Lee Moses, Tony Lee Moses and wife, Eva, Tammy Lynn Moses Williams and husband, Rusty, Amanda Dawn Smith Allman and husband, Ben; great grandchildren, Billy, Ricky, and Marissa Moses, Tyler Aaron Moses, Zackary S. and Hunter Sixx Williams; brother, Broadus Smith, Larry Bollinger; and a sister, Judy Bollinger Brown all of Morganton.

The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 22, 2007, at the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Reverends Terry Robinson and Marshall Dill officiating. Burial will follow at Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
