Connie Deal Scronce

Connie Deal Scronce, 64, of Valdese, NC died Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Born in Burke County, NC on September 6, 1949, she was the daughter of Verna Lee Cooper Deal of Morganton and the late Robert Ervin Deal, Sr. Connie was a member of High Peak Baptist Church and attended Christ United Methodist Church. She graduated from Drexel High School and Western Piedmont Community College. Connie was employed at the Alba Waldensian for over 25 years and then worked for Jobst Carolina for several years. She then worked as an education secretary at Western Carolina Youth Institute until her retirement.

Connie is survived by her best friend and husband of 43 years, Thomas Vernon Scronce of the home; a brother, Robert Ervin "Bobby" Deal, Jr. and his wife, JoAnne, of Morganton; a sister, Brenda Roberts and her husband, Butch, of Morganton; a brother-in-law, David Scronce and his wife, Joanelle, of Morganton; a sister-in-law, Frances Stamey Scronce of Morganton; a special nephew, Jason Deal; a special niece, Jackie Huffman; and several other nephews and nieces.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 4, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with the Rev. Ron Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
