Connie Marie Stephens Russ, 64 of Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 1, 2017. She was born in Catawba County, NC on June 23, 1952 and was the daughter of the late Richard Stephens and Opal Townsend Stephens. Connie was of the Baptist faith. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved being outside especially in the summer around her swimming pool. Connie was a good homemaker who took great pride in taking care of her home and family. She loved to bargain shop and never missed an opportunity to buy something on sale.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, David Stephens.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Russ of the home; son, Michael Russ; granddaughter, Alexander Russ; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Pastor John Whisnant officiating. Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
