Dallas Eugene Norman, 88, of Morganton went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. Born in Burke County, NC on January 16, 1931, he was the son of the late Walter and Mamie Norman. He was a member and trustee of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was owner and operator of Norman Sheet Metal/Heating and Air. Dallas was a renowned coppersmith who enjoyed reading and especially traveling. He was a man of his word and always conducted himself with integrity.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Norman is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eldorador Patton Norman of the home; son, Donald Eugene Norman (Julie); granddaughter, Christy Norman Fleming and husband, Andrew; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Brown, David Alexander Brown (of Fort Jackson, SC, currently serving in the US Army), Hannah Fleming, and Graham Fleming; siblings, Pearline Norman, Margie Patton, Jim Norman, Henry Norman, and Charles Norman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Dallas was preceded in death by brothers, Glen and Grover Norman.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Gantt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Olive Baptist Church or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
