Dan Yoder

Dan Yoder, Jr., 61, of Morganton passed peacefully into Heaven on Sunday, February 2, 2014 surrounded by his family having achieved the complete definition of success in his life. He was born in Catawba County on December 19, 1952 and was a son of the late Dan Layfette Yoder and Mary Lou Greene Yoder.The legacy created by Dan Yoder during his life is so rich in love that even in death we are inspired to continually do better for ourselves and neighbors. Whether called a friend or family member, life was enriched with the experience of unconditional love if you knew Dan. He was an active participant in a community he loved and enjoyed spreading generosity by "paying-it-forward" through anonymous means. Dan’s deep humility led him to avoid any recognition or promotion so that many will never learn how it was Dan who assisted in their time of need.Dan is survived by his wife, Linda Yoder of the home; his daughters, Jennifer Yoder and Stephanie Nieft and her husband, Brian; grandsons, Daniel and Miles Nieft all of Morganton; brother, Sam Yoder of Newton-Conover; sisters, Cyndi Massey and husband, Jerry, of Hendersonville, Janet Rego and husband, Steve, of Wisconsin, Katrina Stephens and husband, Paul of Summerfield, and Donna Edwards and husband, Bobby of Hickory; and a number of nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends at Sossoman Funeral Home on Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 4:30 until 6:00 p.m. A Service of Remembrance will follow at 6:00 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. and Rev. Fred Schuszler officiating. At other times the family will be at the residence.
