Daniel Andrew Self

Daniel Andrew Self, 18, of Harry Brittain Dr., Morganton, NC died Monday, December 5, 2005 as a result of an auto accident. He was born May 28, 1987 in Burke County, NC, and was a son of Edward E. "Junior" Self, and Melissa Suttles Benton and husband, Gary Benton, all of Morganton. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Evelyn Suttles; and a great grandmother, Ina Brittain. Daniel was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He was a 2005 graduate of Freedom High School, and was a student at Western Piedmont Community College. Daniel was a former employee of Lowes Foods, and presently employed at Lowes Hardware. He was an avid hunter and loved playing basketball with his church league.

In addition to his parents, Daniel is survived by a brother, David E. Self, sister, LaDonna Dale and husband, Jarrod, nephew, Colten Dale, grandparents, Edward and Peggy Self, and Bobby Suttles, great grandmother, Jennie Self, and his girlfriend, Amanda Hendrix, all of Morganton; and a number of uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2005 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Steve Sells and Rev. Paul Weaklend officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00until 9:00 pm at the church. At other times, the family will be at the residence of his mother, 5199 Mt. Olive Church Rd., Morganton. Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Youth Department, PO Box 1159, Morganton, NC 28680.
