Daniel Franklin Townsend, 75, of Morganton, NC passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017 after a period of declining health. He was born in Bladen County, NC on May 22, 1941 and was the son of the late Willie F. Townsend and Laura Mae Mitchell.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by the love of his life, Brenda S. Williams of New Bern, NC; a son, Franklin Daniel Townsend; and four siblings, Ellen, Luther, Harris, and James.
Left to cherish the memories of Mr. Frank’s big hearted, soft spoken, man of few words are his children, Cecelia Townsend Wilkerson and husband, Mark, of Durham, NC, Sherri Townsend Alexander-Couch, Kerry Couch of Yacolt, WA, Beverly Hinton and husband, David, of Raleigh, NC, Bryan Williams and wife, Betty, of Morganton, and Kristy Bromley and husband, Curt, of Dover, NC; a brother, Jessie Thigpen, Jr. of Stem, NC; 9 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Frank and Brenda were long-time members of the New Bern Singles Club.
No services are planned for Mr. Townsend.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family.
