Danny Walter Puckett

Danny Walter Puckett, 75, of Morganton, NC died Sunday, October 13, 2013. Born July 21, 1938 in Burke County, NC, he was a son of the late William Walter Puckett and Mattie Mae Fox Puckett. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church. Danny graduated from Oak Hill High School where he played both football and basketball. He worked in management for Roses and Kmart, and also worked for the Morganton Police Department, Broughton Hospital, Causby Buick, and Crossroads Ford. He was a member of Morganton Bass Masters and the Junior Order. Danny was an avid UNC Tar Heels fan.He is survived by his wife, Revonda Ruth Ramsey Puckett of the home; a daughter, Leslie Puckett Keller and husband, David, of Cary, NC; grandsons, David Andrew Keller and Adam Augustine Keller, both of Cary; and a brother, Robert Ray Puckett and his wife, Glenda Barrier, of Morganton.In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by an infant son, Mark Allen Puckett; a brother, Bill Puckett; and a sister, Ruby Puckett.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Parker, Dr. Ralph May, and Rev. David Orders officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 222 South Church St., Suite 336 M, Charlotte, NC 28202, or to Zion Baptist Church Building Fund, 3396 Pea Ridge Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.
