Darius Antwuan Silver, 30, of Morganton died unexpectedly, Monday, January 24, 2011 at Grace Hospital. Born December 19, 1980 in Edgecombe, NC, he was a son of Sheryl Fleming Johnson and her husband, Robert Johnson of Morganton, and the late Hubert V. Marrow, Jr. Darius graduated from Freedom High School where he was active in sports including football and track. He was employed as a Trainer 1 at J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center. He was devoted to his Lord and was an active member of The Rock Church where he served as an usher and sang in the choir. Darius was a committed evangelist and he alone brought about 40 people into his church. He was a true role model to young people.A loving husband, father, son, and grandson, Darius is survived by his wife, Amy Burleson Silver of the home; children, Brooklyn Gardner, Kenzie Silver, and Kayden Silver, all of the home; a brother, Herron Harper, III and his wife, Ashley, of Morganton; maternal grandmother, Doris Fleming of Morganton; step-brother and step-sister, Sharod Johnson and Kelly Johnson, both of Colorado; nieces, Alayna Harper, Jordan Dula, and Nevaeh Harper; and aunts, Debra Fleming, Kimberly Lucas, Carolyn Hines and husband, Greg, Faye Howard and husband, Earl, and Mary Marrow; and an uncle, Ronnie Marrow.In addition to his father, Darius was preceded in death by grandfathers, James Fleming and Hubert Marrow, Sr.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 29, 2011 in the Freedom High School gymnasium with Pastor Billy Chapman officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. in the gymnasium. At other times, the family will be at Darius and Amy’s home, 114 Poteat St., and also at the residence of Doris Fleming, 2401 NC Hwy 181. Memorial contributions may be made to The Rock Church Building Fund, 301 Patterson St., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home & Crematory Center is assisting the family with arrangements.
