Dave Patton, 87, of Morganton, NC, passed away Friday, February 10, 2023.
Born in Burke County, NC on February 14, 1935, he was the son of the late Hence Patton and Edith Bolding Patton. Dave was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where he had previously served as a deacon. Dave enjoyed farming cattle (raising black angus beef), golf, gospel and bluegrass music, but especially spending time with his family.
Mr. Patton is survived by his granddaughter, Angie Reid (Andy); son-in-law, Jeff Miller; sisters, Eldorador Norman, Edith Worsham (Darrell), and Kaye Cline (Carl); brothers, Troy Patton (Joann) and Edward Patton (Karen); sister-in-law, Louise Murphy (Jim); brother-in-law, Billy Shoupe (Camille); and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Stamey Patton; daughter, Kathy Patton Miller; and a number of brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Michael Gantt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 5388 Mt. Olive Church Road, Morganton, NC 28655.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
