David Campbell

David Campbell 83, of Morganton, NC passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018.  Born April 9, 1935 in Burke County, he was the son of the late Levi Ernest Campbell and Elizabeth Avery Campbell.

Mr. Campbell was a member of Arneys Fairview Chapel United Methodist Church.  David was active in his community serving on boards and organizations.  Some of his previous involvements included serving as a Burke County Commissioner, Burke County Commissioner Chairman, Board of Elections Chairman, and Democratic Party Chairman.  He was a very generous and giving man.

Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife, Joyce Bates Campbell; son, Keith Campbell and wife, Jill, of Easley, SC; daughters, Linda Lackey and husband, Danny, of Morganton and Janice Guffey and husband, Donald, of Fort Mills, SC; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Plese of Morganton; and nephew, Eddie Campbell of Chicago, Ill..

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m., Friday, October 12 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Ed Stephenson officiating.  Burial will follow at Arneys Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery.
