David Ernest Shaw

David Ernest Shaw, 80, of Lenoir, NC, passed away Friday, October 21, 2022.

Born in Caldwell County, NC on May 22, 1942, he was the son of the late Walter Ernest Shaw and Mary Hughes Shaw.  He was a Christian and attended Conway’s Chapel Baptist Church and found fulfillment through his involvement with the church.

David was a graduate of Davie County High School, and he earned a degree in Business Administration from High Point College.  After college he enlisted in the US Air Force and was stationed in Austin, TX.  While in service he met many close friends and also developed a love for golf.  Following his military service, he held several jobs in the western United States.

David moved back to Lenoir and began working with his father in the retail furniture business.  After his father’s death, he became owner of W.B. Lindsay Furniture Company in Lenoir.  He later worked for and retired from Foothills Correctional Institute in Morganton.

In addition to golf, David also enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends.  He was fortunate to have many special friends and wonderful neighbors.

David is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rebecca “Becky” Shaw.  He was a loving and devoted husband.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Smyre and Sandra Busey; and brother, Ricky Shaw.

The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Conway’s Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Curtis officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Conway’s Chapel Baptist Church, 3624 Spencer Lane, Lenoir, NC 28645.
