David Franklin Tate

David Franklin Tate, 64, of Morganton died Friday, March 30, 2018.  Born in Burke County, NC on January 16, 1954, he was the son of Judge Samuel McDowell Tate and the late Mary Alice-Howson Keeble Tate.  David graduated from Morganton High School and UNC Chapel Hill.  He was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church and a musician who played drums.  He was the former owner of a Tate Distribution Company and Cabinworks.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Kathy Robinson of Morganton; siblings, Jane, John, Susan, and Martha; and 5 nieces.

He was preceded in death by his mother on the same day.

A celebration of David’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2018 in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Lynn Webber officiating.  The family will greet friends following the service.
