David G. Carswell

David G. Carswell, 64 of Morganton, NC passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018. He was born July 2, 1953 in Burke County, NC and was the son of the late Charles Carswell and Bettie Smith Carswell. David was a retired US Army Veteran after 20 years of service. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Allison Sprouse; brothers, Darrell and Danny Carswell; and biological father, Clarence Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel Johnson Carswell; daughters, Suzanne Pearson of Morganton, Lisa Strand of Beloit, WI, Tammy Kimmer and husband, Keith of Morganton, and Charlene Lowery and husband, Shawn of Beloit, WI; sister, Diane Chapman and husband, Gary of Morganton; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m., Friday, March 9, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel with Rev. Scott Lane officiating with military honors provided by the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard and the NC National Guard. At other times the family will be at the residence.
